2026 Goals

Friday 23rd January 2026. 2026 – honestly, how did that happen? I dip in and out of social media, but lately I’ve been watching everyone post their 2016 selves. It’s wild what changes when you pause long enough to look back — the fringes, the eyebrows, the makeup trends, the fashion choices we thought were iconic… and the people who were part of our world then.

Ten years ago I was newly married, trying to figure out how to share a life (and a wardrobe and a bathroom) with an entire grown man. I was not a natural sharer, and I had plenty to learn. I haven’t posted a throwback photo, but I did write a little note to the 2016 version of me.

Dear 2016 me,

Get ready — this year is going to stretch you in the best ways. You’ll travel with your new husband and discover your heart can hold far more love than you imagined. You’ll see poverty up close on your first trip to Africa and meet some of the happiest people you’ll ever know. You’ll buy your first home. You’ll travel with friends you think you’ll grow old with, and you’ll meet new ones who expand your heart all over again. It’s a year of learning, stretching, and showing up — serving Jesus with energy, passion, and muscles you didn’t even know you had.

As we step into a new year, we’re all trying to set goals that are practical and achievable. But what if we zoomed out a little? What if we looked ten years ahead instead of ten days? What vision does Jesus have for our future? What story is He writing? Try writing a note to the you of 2036 and let Jesus shape the narrative. Someone once told me we overestimate what can happen in one year and underestimate all that can happen in ten.

“Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

(Habakkuk 2:2–3 )

Dear 2036 me,

Look at what God has done. Your babies seventeen, fourteen, and eleven. Everyone said time would fly, and now you know they were right. But you also know something deeper: every year has been held, guided, and carried by the faithfulness of Jesus.

Your heart didn’t just grow, it expanded beyond what you thought possible. The prayers you whispered in exhaustion, the ones you cried through, the ones you barely had words for… none of them were wasted. Heaven heard every single one. The plans you tried to map out? God rewrote them with a steadier hand and a kinder imagination than yours ever could have offered.

You’ve walked through seasons that felt too heavy and moments that felt too holy. You’ve seen God’s goodness chase you down in unexpected ways. You’ve watched Him build friendships that sharpen you, surround you, and pull you closer to His heart.

You are content, not because life is perfect, but because you’ve learned to live rooted in the One who never changes. You’ve grown into the calling God whispered over you long before you believed it.

Keep going. Keep trusting. Keep choosing the narrow path that leads to life. The story isn’t finished, and the glory ahead is greater than anything behind you.

Let’s be women who don’t just set goals but seek God’s heart for our future. Here’s to the next ten years — the surprises, the stretching, the laughter, the tears, and the goodness of God woven through it all. May we look back one day and see a story only Jesus could have written.

Let’s be dreamers,

Katie x
