Joy
Hi ladies! 💛
My name is Esther, and I'm part of Team C3. I've been asked to share something about joy at a time when I needed this reminder more than ever, so I'm praying it's timely for you too.
Life has a funny way of convincing us that joy is something we stumble across once everything falls into place. But the Bible paints a different picture. Joy isn't something we chase—it's something we receive, choose, and grow in through Jesus.
So here are 10 simple reminders to help cultivate joy that lasts.
1. Joy is a choice, not just a feeling.
Feelings come and go, but biblical joy isn't dependent on circumstances. We can choose joy because our hope is anchored in Jesus, not in our situation.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him..."
— Romans 15:13
2. Spend time with the Joy-Bringer.
Joy isn't something we manufacture—it's found in God's presence. The more time we spend with Him, the more our hearts are reminded of His goodness.
"In Your presence there is fullness of joy." — Psalm 16:11
3. Ask God for joy.
Sometimes we overcomplicate things. Jesus actually invites us to ask! If you're feeling weary, don't be afraid to pray, "Lord, fill me with Your joy today."
"Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." — John 16:24
4. Hold on to your joy.
The world will try to steal your peace, but Jesus promises that the joy He gives can't be taken away. Protect it. Guard your heart. Stay close to Him.
"No one will take your joy from you." — John 16:22
5. Joy doesn't ignore pain—it sees purpose through it.
Choosing joy isn't pretending everything is okay. It's trusting that God is still working, even in the middle of difficult seasons.
"Count it all joy... because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." — James 1:2–4
6. Joy is part of God's will for your life.
Sometimes we wonder what God's will is, but Scripture gives us a beautiful answer: rejoice, pray, and give thanks. Joy isn't just a bonus—it's part of the life He's called us to.
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances..." — 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
7. Your joy isn't just for you.
Joy is contagious. The way you love, encourage, and carry hope can refresh someone else's soul more than you realise.
"Your love has given me great joy and encouragement because you... have refreshed the hearts of the Lord's people." — Philemon 1:7
8. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit.
Take the pressure off yourself. You don't have to force joy or strive for it. As you stay connected to Jesus, the Holy Spirit naturally produces it in your life.
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace..." — Galatians 5:22–23
9. Gratitude fuels joy.
One of the quickest ways to shift our perspective is to thank God for what He's already done. Gratitude reminds us that He's faithful, even before we see the breakthrough.
"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." — Psalm 107:1
10. Remember where your true joy comes from.
Our jobs, relationships, achievements, and dreams are wonderful gifts—but they were never meant to carry the weight of our joy. Jesus is our greatest treasure, and He is the one thing that never changes.
"The joy of the Lord is your strength." — Nehemiah 8:10
Whatever season you're walking through today, my prayer is that you would experience the deep, lasting joy that only Jesus can give. Not because life is perfect, but because He is faithful.
Praying for you all. 🤍
Love,
Esther
